The PNF concept

The PNF concept is based on increasing the patient’s overall strength; it encourages or eases muscle activity, reduces pain, or is used for relearning movements – for example after a stroke or a brain injury. The patient is very actively involved in the therapy, because he/she is performing the exercise together with the therapist. The therapist puts the patient in a certain position and asks him to perform certain movements very similar to typical daily movements, but they are performed with the optimal resistance.
